What a great way of spending the summer with community. Our camping trip included swimming, kayaking thanks to Mario, exploring tidal pools, a generous buffet of camping food, and a great Sunday Mass at the camp ground. We look forward to doing this again.

VOO DOO

Fr. Augustine brought in Voo Doo Donuts - FABULOUS! (notice the maple bar with bacon, and the actual VOO DOO DOLL/donut complete with blood-red filling!)

Dominican Novices

Fr. Anthony and the Dominican novices visited our Newman Center to see our ministry and for us to see the future ministers. Together they visited the University, went on the River walk, visited bookstores, saw the ministry of St. Vincent de Paul, and joined us for Mass and evening prayer and rosary. It has been a pleasure hosting them, and we look forward to them stopping by any time they are on their way to Eugene or McKenzie Bridge.

A look back...

Things are pretty quiet around the Newman Center this week, with all the priests of the Western Dominican Province gathered in the bay area for the ordination. I thought it might be fun to post a photo or two of student events of the past school year.

A Man for All Seasons

if you haven't seen A Man For All Seasons, a 1966 film with a stellar cast, I highly recommend it. It wonderfully portrays Thomas More, a man who stood up for his beliefs. (Looks like the entire film can be found on YouTube. But you didn't hear that from me...)

Look who showed up for Graduation!

Late in the day on Monday (Graduation Day at U of O) some unexpected guests dropped by Newman Center. They were mighty comfortable and were not distracted in the least by the graduates and their families celebrating nearby!
